Schroeppel, NY -- An Oswego County grand jury has determined a Schroeppel resident justifiably shot and killed a man who entered her home in October, according to the district attorney's office.
Deanna Candee, of Hilltop Drive, was cleared of wrongdoing in the death of Timothy Hartigan, who she found inside her home about 8:30 p.m. Oct. 17 after returning from a shopping trip.
Hartigan had ransacked her home and attacked Candee, deputies said at the time. Her son pulled Hartigan off of her before she grabbed her revolver and shot the intruder.

Would be robber shot by homeowner
BOONE COUNTY -- Boone County Deputies say a would-be robber is recovering in a hospital after being shot by the homeowner.
The robbery and shooting happened at 9:45 p.m. Saturday at a home on the 14600 block of Proctor Road.
While responding, deputies learned the homeowner had shot the intruder. The intruder is a 49 year old man from Sturgeon, Mo. Authorities say the two men know each other.

Homeowner Shoots Suspected Burglar
HOUSTON -- A homeowner shot a teenage burglary suspect on Sunday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Robert and Pam Cole were asleep at their home on Cloverleaf Street near Texarkana Street in east Harris County at about 11 p.m., when they heard glass breaking.
"We were both jarred awake," Pam Cole said. "We knew something was wrong. The alarm was going off."
"Someone is coming in the house and she yelled out,' Get your shotgun,'" Robert Cole said. "I came out of the bedroom and down the hall here, a man with a black hoodie and a fire extinguisher like he was going to beat somebody, was in the living room. I came out of the bedroom with the shotgun … shot him in the hip. He screamed, dropped the fire extinguisher and dived into the hole he came in."

Suspect shot during home invasion in Durant
DURANT, OK - A 17-year-old male suspect has been flown to a Plano hospital after he was shot in the back during a home invasion in Durant.
Durant police say the teen broke into a home in the 1000 block of North Third just after 11:30 this morning while the homeowner was inside. The homeowner awoke to find the suspect inside. He yelled for the teen to stop, and then shot the suspect in the back.

Man shot and killed in Perry County apparent robbery
New Bloomfield man was fatally shot while he apparently attempted to rob a beverage distributor in Carroll Township, Perry County Saturday night, state police said.
Perry County Coroner Michael Shalonis said he pronounced Jeffrey Thomas Harless, 25, dead at Shermans Dale Beer & Beverage at 10:55 p.m. Saturday from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Idaho barista fends off robber with gun; arrest made
A 17-year-old boy was arrested this morning following an attempted holdup of a coffee stand in Coeur d’Alene in which the barista pulled a gun on the would-be robber.
A plainclothes deputy sheriff for Kootenai County was in the area of the robbery serving civil papers when a radio broadcast went out alerting officers to the incident.
The robber had a gun in the attempt to take money from Sunshine Espresso at Ironwood Drive and Government Way, but left without getting any cash.
The barista, Michelle Cornelson, said the robber showed a handgun and demanded money, but when a vehicle pulled into the lot for an order, it caused the robber to lower his gun, according to Coeur d’Alene police.
She told police she used the distraction to grab her own weapon and point it at the robber, ordering him to leave.

Police: Intruder Shot During West Side Robbery Attempt
COLUMBUS, Ohio — A suspected robber was in critical condition Sunday after being shot on the city's west side.
The shooting occurred Saturday at about 2 p.m. at a home on Haldy Avenue.
According to police, two people armed with guns entered the home and demanded valuables. One person inside the home retrieved a handgun and opened fire, hitting one of the intruders.
